I have to say how impressed I am with the great television spot my friend and colleague, Kirk Montgomery, has put together to let kids and teens know that “it gets better.”
No matter who you are, I suspect you’ve been teased or bullied. It happened to me because my family couldn’t afford the name brand Starter jacket my friends owned. It happened to me because my mom couldn’t buy me the new pair of Air Jordan shoes others had.
For some… it goes much deeper and is much more painful.
I challenge people to stand up to others. When you hear people laughing at an overweight person in the grocery line who is having trouble with his or her cart, allow the rude shoppers to see you help the person in need. When you watch kids making fun of other kids, talk to your own children about the way you hope they act.
It’s up to all of “us” to show all of “them” how to act compassionately.
